PSSR next generation leaked news: clearer images and support 1080P/120FPS

According to the latest rumors, the next-generation version of the AI-powered PSSR upscaling technology equipped with the PS5 Pro will usher in a significant improvement, but will not be named PSSR 2.

The YouTube channel "Moore's Law is Dead" said in the latest video that Sony is training a new lightweight neural network that requires shorter frame time to upgrade images and can provide higher image quality regardless of the basic resolution of the game.

Currently, the basic resolution required by PSSR is 864p, which is quite high compared to ultra-high performance DLSS, etc., but the next version should be able to provide better image quality upgrades from lower resolutions.

According to the whistleblower, one of the main reasons why Sony developed this new version of PSSR technology is that it can better run 4K/120FPS, or 8K/60FPS.

Although some games have already achieved 4K/120FPS using the current version of PSSR, the new version will allow games that can only run to 70 or 80 frames to achieve better performance, while also bringing a significant improvement in image quality - the improvement is comparable to AMD's FSR upgrade from 2.0 to 3.1.

In addition, the new version of PSSR will support a wider range of resolution outputs, such as stable 120FPS at 1440p and 1080p resolutions, while the current version only supports output 4K resolutions.

For those games without using the PSSR PS5 Pro, the image quality will also be improved, thanks to a new technology called MFSR.MFSR will serve as an alternative to TAA (TAA), bringing better picture quality performance.
