Publisher Take-Two fully supports its Rockstar Games studio to postpone the release of "GTA6" until next year.

"GTA6" was originally scheduled to be released at an unspecified time this fall.However, just last night, the developer announced that it would postpone the release date until May 26, 2026.Rockstar Studio said today: "The goal of every game we release is always to strive to surpass everyone's expectations, and GTA6 is no exception. We hope everyone can understand that we need this extra time to achieve the quality that everyone expects and deserves."

Now, Take-Two’s head Strauss Zelnik responded to the postponement, saying the company “fully supports Rockstar Games Studios spending more time fulfilling their creative ideas”, adding that GTA6 will “bring a groundbreaking, sensational entertainment experience beyond audience expectations after the release.”

The Take-Two head also added that even if the release date of "GTA6" has been delayed a little and will not be launched until the company's fiscal year 2027, he still expects the company to achieve good development in the next 12 months.

In a press release, Take-Two said the company expects “net bookings will grow continuously and reach record levels in fiscal 2026 and fiscal 2027.”

Take-Two plans to announce its next financial results report on May 15.
