Sucker Punch will continue developing single-player games after Ghost of Mount Yotei

After the release of "Soul of Mount Yotei", PlayStation's first-party studio Sucker Punch will continue to be a single-player game developer, so fans do not have to expect this studio to develop multiple series simultaneously.

In an interview with VGC, Sucker Punch co-founder and studio leader Brian Fleming said that the studio intends to remain a relatively small AAA game developer.

"In fact, no matter what we do next, whether to continue "Ghost" or return to the "Sly Fox Adventures" series, this decision is actually more limited by our value of 'focus' and 'killing time.' In other words, we can really only do one thing at a time.

If we were good at juggling four projects at the same time, then sure, we could do a remake, and then do that, and do this, and fulfill some fan requests, and that would definitely be popular... but the reality is we can only do one at a time.

So this has to be your best idea, right? That's really clear.It's not that there aren't 15 great ideas.But you can only do one.By the way, you only do it about once every five years.So this choice is really important.I mean, it's like every five years you have to choose your college and your major again."

With Sucker Punch approaching its 30th anniversary in 2027, many fans are hoping to see the return of classic series such as The Adventures of Sucker Punch and the InFamous series.However, according to Fleming, this diverse expectation not only comes from fans, but is also a challenge faced within the studio.

“As we approach our 30th anniversary, we now have employees who are the children of former employees. There are also employees who weren’t even born when the studio was founded.

And you can also see that part of the transition from Fox to Infamous to Ghost of Tsushima is that when that transition happens, you're not just saying goodbye to Ghost of Tsushima, and you're not just saying goodbye to the actors who worked on it, but you're also saying goodbye to people who have been part of the team for the last ten years, because they may not want to make another game set in history."
