As EA is acquired, the father of Dead Space wants to develop Dead Space 4

While 2023's Dead Space: Remastered is the perfect start to the franchise's resurgence, EA hasn't fully capitalized on the IP's explosive popularity.Due to sales not meeting EA's expectations, the remake plan for the sequel "Dead Space 2" was also cancelled.

Just last year, "Dead Space" creator Glenn Schofield proposed to EA to make a new "Dead Space" game, but was rejected. Now, with EA under new leadership, Glenn Schofield believes there's a chance a fourth game will come out.

In an interview with IGN, Schofield talked about the future of Dead Space. He said: "I have a lot of ideas that I'm ready to put into action, and one of them is Dead Space 4. EA just got acquired, and I feel like this is an opportunity. I'm already thinking about it."

Last year, Schofield approached EA about making Dead Space 4, even proposing to save the project $30 million to $40 million by reusing the models EA Motive used when developing the remake of the first game.Unfortunately, EA executives have no interest in this.

"I went to EA recently and they said, 'No, we're not interested anymore,' and I said, I can bring the leadership team back. I need the model from EA Motive [who built the Dead Space remake in 2023], and my idea can save you $30 to $40 million. And they said, 'No way.'"

Just last month, EA was acquired by PIF, Silver Lake Capital and Affinity Partners for $50 billion.Hopefully, the publisher's new management can see the future and potential of the Dead Space series.

One of the reasons why Dead Space 4 was rejected may have been the failure of the Callisto Protocol. The game's failure eventually led to developer The Striking Distance being shut down. However, Schofield recently stated that "The Callisto Protocol" has sold 7 million copies to date.

Schofield was involved in the creation of the original Dead Space while serving as an executive producer at EA's Redwood Shores studio in 2008.He did not participate in the creation of "Dead Space 2" in 2011 and "Dead Space 3" in 2013, but while serving as the founder and CEO of Striking Distance Studios in 2022, he created the spiritual sequel to "Dead Space"-"The Callisto Protocol".Apparently, he hasn't completely given up hope that Dead Space will rise again, although publisher EA seems to have given up on that hope.
