Final Fantasy Strategy Edition conducts a lot of research and discussion on the operation of the PC version

In an interview at the Tokyo Game Show last week, director Hirokatsu Mae elaborated on the specific challenges facing the addition of a PC-adapted interface for this game originally designed for the first generation PlayStation.

"I often play games on PCs, so... I'm very particular about it and I must do a good job of the interface," said Hiroshimashima. "Final Fantasy Strategy Edition is a turn-based strategy role-playing game that players may play for a long time. You need to use the mouse and keyboard for a long time. I wanted to make sure that players won't feel tired even if they play for a long time. So in this regard, there was a lot of discussion within our team: What shortcut keys can we set? What methods can we use to make the mouse more convenient? We finally achieved this after countless modifications and discussions."

"We also looked at a lot of other strategy role-playing games and real-time strategy games. We look at the controls they use, understand what the standards of players are used to and what operations make players feel comfortable with, and then design our control system based on that."

"The Chronicle of Ivalis" producer Yoshiichi Matsuzawa added that Hiroshimachi Kazuyoshi's attention to details is by no means empty talk."Even if it's a small matter like rolling speed, he would say to me 'The rolling speed is a little wrong here', and I can only say to him 'We don't have that much time! The schedule is not allowed to be adjusted.'"

The two also talked about making sure the game runs well on Steam Deck - but due to some text display issues, the game is currently rated as "Playable" rather than "Verified" on Steam Deck.It was an intentional trade-off – they decided not to sacrifice any important information that needs to be presented on the screen for adaptation.
