Tomb Raider studio Crystal Dynamics announced layoffs on LinkedIn due to a "changing business environment" and said: "This decision is not a rash move. However, in the changing market environment, layoffs are necessary to ensure the studio's long-term healthy development and core creative priority."
The number of layoffs has not been made public, and the studio currently has more than 200 employees in three offices.Although parent company Embracer has promised to protect the studio from layoffs, this is the second time they have broken their promises.
Regarding Tomb Raider, Crystal Power said the future of the game will not be affected by this decision, but its development progress has not been officially announced.
Previously, reports pointed out that the development of the new work "Tomb Raider" was in trouble.
Crystal Power is currently using Unreal 5 engine to develop the Tomb Raider game, with the development funding provided by Amazon Games. With just a few months left to the end of 2025, we are unlikely to even see a trailer for the new work now.
