“While we are unable to share more details at the moment, the future of the platform is our top priority. We are committed to exploring a new, enhanced way for players to interact with our content and services.”

Hideaki Nishino was asked about the future of PlayStation console hardware and whether it will be replaced by cloud gaming.Hideaki Nishino stressed that PlayStation now has several generations of experience providing players with cloud gaming experience, and said that while he believes that cloud gaming is a viable option for players, he believes that the overall need for "local execution" remains.

"From a technical point of view, cloud streaming technology has developed well, as our products show, but end-to-end network stability is not something we can control. Compared with traditional hosting mode, the high cost per game is still a challenge.

Cloud gaming is increasingly giving players additional options to access content, but we believe that most players still want to experience the game through local execution without relying on network conditions.I believe that the PS5 and PS5 Pro have proved this point.”

He then mentioned that Sony's console business has developed into a "multi-faceted platform", and a large proportion of its 124 million monthly active users are still using PS4 games.

“We now have a huge ecosystem of highly active players from PS5 and PS4 generations. So, we are naturally very interested in our next-generation console strategy. While we can’t reveal more details at the moment, the future of the platform is our biggest concern. We are committed to exploring a whole new and more powerful way for players to interact with our content and services.”
