Microsoft has raised the price of the entire Xbox Series console around the world today, and the Xbox Series X is now priced at $599.99 (previously $499.99).

Microsoft today announced that it will raise the prices of Xbox consoles, controllers, headphones and some games.The price increase of host and accessories will take effect today (May 1).

While the game price will remain the same for now, the Xbox first-party game is expected to sell for $79.99 during the Christmas holiday.

Price increases will take effect worldwide, with headphone prices only increasing in the United States and Canada.

A list of Microsoft hosts and accessories in the US market:

Xbox Series S 512GB: $299.99 – $379.99, Xbox Series X: $499.99 – $599.99

Microsoft issued a statement to IGN on the reasons for the price increase: "We understand that these adjustments are challenging, and we have made them after careful consideration of the market conditions and rising development costs. Going forward, we will continue to focus on providing more ways to allow players to play more games on any screen and ensure the best experience for Xbox players."

IGN speculates that Microsoft's first-party games will be priced at $80 include: Call of Duty's next mainline work, recently postponed to 2026's new work "Fables", "Perfect Darkness" reboot, inXile's "Clockwork Revolution", Rare's "Everwild", The Coalition's "Gears of War: Incident Day", Hideo Kojima's "OD", and Undead Labs' "Round Kingdom 3".
