At this year's show, Gustavo Steinberg, CEO of Latin America Game Show, was interviewed to further explore the impact and importance of the show on the entire gaming industry.Stamping the ever-changing trend in Latin America in the gaming market, Steinberg discusses how the region is increasingly becoming a fertile ground for local developers to showcase projects, and the ideal place for large game publishers and investors around the world to mine new talents.

Asked about his opinion on why the Latin American gaming market is so important and special, Steinberg replied:

"The first point: the number of gamers we have. Now, we have more gamers than the North American game market - we have 350 million players, and North America has about 280 million players. Of course, due to the economic situation, North America has much higher purchasing power. But I think everyone realizes that the European and North American markets are gradually reaching saturation, so where are the new expandable markets? There are a lot of restrictions in the Asian market, so Latin America is obviously a good choice."

In elaborating on the second factor, Steinberg said he believes that “game studios and publishers have finally realized that in many ways we belong to Western culture. Although we are not classified as Western culture in classification, we are largely Westernized, just with different tastes and different perspectives of seeing things, which is crucial to creating new games that can attract audiences.”

He pointed out that in addition to the region's great potential in terms of creativity, Latin America is located between the time zones of Europe and the Americas, with a very convenient geographical location and an advantage in exchange rates.Steinberg also mentioned: "The people here are really eager to succeed. The scale of this show is because the professionals here are excellent. For example, at the booth of the Xbox Indie Game Project (ID@Xbox), I remember picking two or three games here last year. This has been around for a while and it will be more and more in the future."

With many well-known companies like Steam, Bethesda, Nintendo and others appearing at the Latin American Game Show, developers in the region have many great opportunities to connect with these companies.Steinberg explained:

“We don’t have big local game publishers here, so I think it’s a win-win situation. Game publishers can profit from the talent we have here, and those talent can also benefit from working with game publishers and investors in other regions. I usually say to professionals and investors, ‘If you don’t come here, you’re wasting money.’ The reason is that simple.”

Steinberg finally added: "One thing is important, if you think the developers you meet here are the same as those you encounter in the rest of the world, you're wrong. Developers from other places won't come here because it's too expensive for them and more and more foreigners are coming here. So, if you haven't been here, you should come." As the Latin American Games Show provides a platform for productive partnerships and commercial projects, the future of the show and Latin America in the wider gaming sector is bright.
