Last year developer Starbreeze promised to add an offline mode to "Payday 3", but manager Jonas Skantz recently confirmed in a live broadcast that this plan has been cancelled.
Skantz explained that due to team shortages and the current update model, offline mode is no longer realistic. In the future, games will shift to real-time service-based operations and accelerate content updates through cooperation with the community.
Skantz said: "The team has been working hard towards this goal, but as of now the plan is no longer feasible. In addition to the limited number of personnel, the current update model is also a hindrance. So we hope to move to a way that can work with the community to ensure that we can update content quickly."
It is worth mentioning that Starbreeze recently laid off 44 more people and also canceled a new "Dungeons and Dragons" game developed in cooperation with Wizards of the Coast.
