Black & White, Dungeon Keeper, and Fable producer Peter Molyneux admits to his tendency to overpromise, but he hopes his upcoming game will be the designer's redemption.

《神鬼寓言》系列制作人承认自己确实说到做不到

Before "No Man's Sky" was regarded as a typical example of "overpromising and underdelivering" when it was released, Peter Molyneux, a game designer also from Guildford, was considered a "representative figure" in this regard.Although the eventually released works such as the "Fable" series and "Black and White" are by no means inferior games, they have never been able to fully fulfill the promises made in the early stage. The endings of projects such as "Project Milo" and "Curiosity: What's Inside the Rubik's Cube?" have given the designer a reputation as a "charlatan".

However, Molineux has acknowledged the reputation on several occasions since. He said in an interview: "I now admit that I did overpromise on some things in the past, and I shouldn't have said those things about 'Curiosity: What's Inside the Rubik's Cube?'. But I did it just because I felt it was the right thing to do at the time."

Molyneux discussed his other past commitments to games such as Fable, Black and White, and Dungeon Keeper, and mentioned his new game Masters of Albion: "This game gave me an opportunity to combine all of these elements. Although one is a real-time strategy game and the other is a god simulation game, one is an RPG, but why the hell can't they all be combined?" He added: "I don't know if it can be done, but this game is so important to me, because in a way, it is about redemption." He also said: "Masters of Albion is a redemption game."

However, although he claimed that this genre fusion "definitely can happen" and said "this will undoubtedly be the most important work I have ever made," he also admitted that he did not dare to brag too much about this new work due to past commitment experiences.Molyneux explained: "I can't say it's a great game. To me, that would be the wrong thing to say - because if I were to say in the media, 'Masters of Albion is going to be a great game,' that would be making a promise." He added: "All I can say now is,It's a unique experience that's incredibly relatable and familiar to anyone who's played Fable, Black and White, and Dungeon Keeper, but if I were to say, 'This is going to be my best game,' I'd be in trouble again."
