Jason Voorhees is returning for the new Friday the 13th movie - which, coincidentally, will be the 13th installment in the horror franchise. Not only that, producer Robert Barsamian also hinted that there will be more stories and unexpected twists in the future.
"We are actively working on a new movie - which will be the thirteenth entry in the series - and also developing a new video game," Barsamian said in the latest issue of SFX magazine.
The producer also revealed that Jason Voorhees "will return in other unexpected ways," and now we can't wait to see what's next for the iconic bloody killer.
Currently, Jason's iconic mask is being redesigned, according to Horror, Inc. Chief Marketing Officer Sheri Conn."Jason's look has changed a lot over the course of the 12 movies, so we wanted to draw inspiration from some of his most iconic looks," she told SFX magazine.
"We redesigned the eye contours on the mask to give Jason a more menacing look, and also included 13 holes in the mask to pay homage to the series. This new design will be used across the board for a variety of related projects, but will be slightly adjusted to suit different scenarios based on the specific context of each project."
When asked about the continuity of the plot, Barsamian did not give a clear answer, but mentioned the philosophy of Horror Pictures: "We are exploring many possibilities, but always keeping 'authenticity' as a core focus."
The first "Friday the 13th" was a huge success in 1980, and 16 years have passed since the reboot starring Jared Padalecki. Now the new sequel to this horror series has finally entered the production stage.Meanwhile, Peacock is developing the prequel series "Camp Crystal Lake," which will focus on the origin story of Jason and his murderous mother, Pamela.
