Ubisoft has officially unveiled the Saudi Arabia-themed DLC for Assassin’s Creed: Visions. This free expansion pack called "Memory Valley" will provide at least six hours of new content. The development team said that the historical records of Ora, where its story takes place, are relatively scattered, which brings some special challenges to the development work.
“The main challenge was to recreate what this place might have looked like in the 9th century,” said Florian Salome, art director of “Valley of Memories,” in a new development diary video played during a major launch event. “On one side is a thriving civilization, on the other side is ancient wilderness. Like Bagh in the Golden Age.As is often the case with the Assassin's Creed series, much of the documentation about this incredibly rich place has been lost to time, and we wanted to ensure that this scene and era were brought to life in a way that was as much a work of historical research as it was an artistic creation."
Despite the limitations of modern society's understanding of Euler's specific details, Ubisoft still had enough information to create a city market, a farm next to an oasis, and a huge cemetery complex that still stands in the area today.
“We took extra care to faithfully recreate the most iconic landmarks while ensuring fun gameplay,” said Olivier Leonardi, Creative Director of Memories Valley.
Vision creative director Stéphane Boudon added that the DLC will also include "over six hours of gameplay content."
"Memory Valley" will still incorporate a lot of real-life historical elements, and players can discover and read notes about the area.Abdulrahman Suhaybani, vice president of culture at the Royal Commission for Al-Ula, hopes the content "encourages players to explore Al-Ula's fascinating history and tangible legacy."
