The new work of the "Silent Hill" series, "Silent Hill F", has been officially released, and the global shipment volume exceeded 1 million copies on the first day of its release, becoming the fastest-growing work of this psychological horror series under Korami. Its reputation is also strong, and its media ratings are the same as last year's "Silent Hill 2: Remake".
On this occasion of success, series producer Okamoto Kiyo recently talked about players’ expectations for future works in the series. In an interview with Tokyo Game Show in 2025, Okamoto Kiki said that given that "Silent Hill F" contains a large number of "challenging" elements, he thought player evaluations would be polarized, but the response in the end exceeded his expectations.
But he then clarified: "Of course, this does not mean that every Silent Hill in the future will be like Silent Hill F. Every work should have its own unique flavor. We hope to continue experimenting in gameplay design and narrative, and maintain ambitions, so please look forward to the next Silent Hill work."
Later, Okamoto Kiyo further added on the X platform, hoping to maintain a bold attitude in the series, so that each work can provide a different type of gameplay experience. On the other hand, he also stressed that some of the traditions of Silent Hill should not be broken—that is, the quality of the storytelling. He said: "I firmly believe that a deep psychological story is the core element of Silent Hill as "Silent Hill", and we will continue to attach great importance to this in future works."
Although "Silent Hill f" introduces a brand new background setting and game system, it is closely linked to other works in the series through the core of psychological horror.Okamoto Kiki explained: "The protagonist's spiritual journey when facing his own trauma and inner chaos ultimately constitutes the texture of the work "Silent Hill". It seems that future series of works will continue to explore diversified gameplay paths based on this.
"Silent Hill f" is now available on Steam, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S platforms.
