Playground Games and Microsoft recently officially unveiled the latest work of the Forza Horizon series - "Forza Horizon 6", which is scheduled to be released in 2026.Although the official confirmed that the stage of the Open World Racing game will include Mount Fuji and its surrounding areas, artistic director Don Arceta revealed more information on location in an interview.
Don Arceta said: "While we won't release too much details at the moment, we are very excited to show players the vast beauty of the natural and urban environment that Japan has. From the city of Tokyo with twinkling neon lights and high-rise buildings - this will be one of the most detailed and layered environments we have created so far - to the tranquility and natural beauty of the countryside and mountains of Japan, we believe players will be shocked by the open world we have built in Japan."
Instead of trying to “replicate Japan and its environment one by one”, the development team aims to “capture the country’s unique cultural essence and present it in the most ‘horizon’ way”.To achieve this goal, Don Arceta, cultural consultant Kyoko Yamashita and the development team have personally visited Japan for field trips.
"This trip to Japan shows that the development team is indeed approaching Japan with appropriate curiosity and observation. Most of the teams visited for the first time during the field trip in Tokyo. A few days later, someone said, 'It's full of vitality, but it's... quiet.' This observation - an unexpected tranquility in the orderly chaos - tells me that they are not only watching, but also feeling the place." She stressed that this "insight" is impossible to fake and subsequently influenced "discussions about dynamics, etiquette and voice."
"Forza Horizon 6" will first be available on Xbox Series X/S and PC platforms in 2026, and the release date of the PS5 version will be after this, and the specific time has not been announced.More details will be announced in early 2026.
