Shaun Rivera, director of the League of Legends derivative free fighting game "2XKO", recently admitted that despite relying on the "League of Legends" IP, the game still needs to rely on its strength to win a place in the field of fighting games. In an interview with Edge Magazine, Rivera said the team’s goal is to make this team-based fighting game stand shoulder to shoulder with traditional fighting giants such as Street Fighter at the EVO esports event next summer.
Rivera emphasized: "We must win this position and we must obtain this right through the recognition of the players. The development team fully understands that we need to create a game that players love, trust and continuously optimize. Nothing can be achieved overnight, we will do our best."
It is reported that the production team redesigned the game framework after its debut in 2019.Producer Tom Cannon previously revealed that the team is reluctant to simply put League of Legends characters into the templates of Iron Fist or Mortal Kombat, but is committed to bringing new elements to the fighting game genre.
"2XKO" is currently in the closed beta stage of PC platform and is expected to be officially launched on PC, Xbox Series X|S and PS5 platforms within 2025.
