At the 2025 Cologne Game Show, the life simulation game "inZOI", developed by inZOI Studio, has attracted much attention and is also regarded as a potential competitor in the "Sims" series. In an interview, Hyungjun "Kjun" Kim, producer, director and CEO of inZOI, discussed the unique design concept of this game in Early Access stage and admitted that he would not be able to surpass "The Sims" in the near future.

Kim, who has 15 years of game development experience, served as the producer and executive director of NCSOFT's "Tower of Eternity", and later joined KRAFTON as the deputy director of "PUBG: PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds".In the face of comparison with The Sims, Kim showed amazing humility: "As a long-time Sims player, I know its depth and excellence. It is an honor for our game to be comparable, but we can't surpass it in the short term, and it will take a long time to reach the level of side-by-side."

Kim admitted that the team was facing resource challenges: "At this stage, we don't even have enough resources to produce content of the same size as The Sims. But through continuous efforts, I hope to get the same recognition one day."

Kim added: "The differentiation advantage of inZOI is the emphasis on the outdoor experience. Unlike The Sims, we focus more on the outside of the home experience, which is inspired by my love for The Sims 3." Kim also said the team has prioritized the development of a variety of outdoor activities. "While frequent updates are not available immediately, we are focusing on creating outdoor activities such as driving, boat building, fishing and farming to create distinctive features."

Currently, the free DLC of "inZOI" is now online, not only adding additional cities, new island ships, but also fishing and farming systems, etc.Kim emphasized: "Our focus is to continuously expand the types of outdoor activities that players can participate in." This development direction is directly derived from community feedback - the strongest demand for players is "city integrity", hoping to obtain more detailed urban content, which has also become the team's future development focus.

It is reported that "inZOI" will continue to improve urban activities and experiences through continuous updates and improvements, and create a unique life simulation game experience. What do you think about this? Let’s discuss it in the comment section.
