On August 20, 2025, Funcom, the developer of the open-world survival game Dune: Awakening, revealed the future development plan of Arrakis at the Into the Infinite press conference.The game will launch the second chapter on September 10, and it is also the first large-scale free content update, continuing the exciting main plot (the first chapter ends with suspense) and adding a new world of content and missions.At the same time, the new independent plot DLC "The Lost Harvest" will be released simultaneously, priced at $12.99, which will bring an independent new storyline and a variety of unique skin rewards.
Funcom also announced that the game will be open for a limited-time free trial during the Cologne Game Exhibition (August 20 to August 24).Players can experience 10 hours of game content for free. If the official version is purchased after the trial, the character progress will be completely preserved.
At the press conference, Funcom CEO Rui Casais also said that Tencent has provided support to the Funcom team at multiple levels, including server-related technical support, data analysis, AI-driven user matching system, compliance guarantee, and global operations.Tencent's support also made "Dune: Awakening" the best-selling game in Funcom's 32-year history.
Chapter 2 (Free update)
This free update will take over the suspense plot of the first chapter. Players will meet new and old characters in a new journey, explore new areas or trace the past, and deeply reveal the most secret truth of the Imperium.This update will also introduce rich world content, including new tasks, dynamic events, props and activities, as well as more character customization options (such as new hairstyles). Through the added character appearance adjustment function, existing characters can be personalized and reshaped.
"Lost Harvest" DLC ($12.99)
In this new independent plot, a spice harvester from Miner’s Guild crashes, and the body hides secret goods that may change everything, and the player’s mission is to find it.
The DLC will also unlock a number of new skins, including the first vehicle with unique animation effects - "Treadwheel", as well as the "Dune Man" building set, new decoration, armor set, weapons, etc.

Free trial with soundtrack vinyl pre-order
The limited-time free trial is now logged on Steam. As of August 24, players can explore freely within the Hagga Basin map and interact with other trial players.During the trial period, the server cannot be in the same server as the official version player, but after purchasing the official version, the characters and items will be retained in full.
