"Brothers of the Seas: Hometown" was launched on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series S platforms a week ago. According to a report released by data research company Sensor Tower, the latest work of Hangar 13 sold more than 800,000 sets in the first week.
The data covers the entire platform, but Sensor Tower said that 48.67% of sales came from the PS5 version, followed by the PC Steam version, accounting for 37.86%, and finally the Xbox version, which was only 13.47%.
Sensor Tower said: "The strong early sales highlighted the lasting appeal of the Brothers IP and also verified the studio's determination to create a linear narrative-driven experience in cinematic presentation. The strong performance of the PlayStation platform may reflect the platform's strategic layout of the plot-based single-player game."
This means that "Brothers of the Four Seas: Hometown" sold less than 1 million copies in the first week. For a big IP like "Brothers of the Four Seas", this data is actually very poor.
In comparison, the PC version of the 2A game "Sword Star" has sold more than 1 million units in three days after its release. Even for "Dune: Awakening", two weeks after its release, PC Steam still sold more than one million.
Even if the series is horizontally compared, the sales of "Four Seas Brothers: Hometown" are still not enough. The previous work "Brothers of the Seas 3" was released in October 2016. As of December 2016, the sales of the work was close to 5 million sets, and by May 2020, the sales of the work reached 7 million sets.
