"Borderlands 4" director said: Building degrees of freedom against "Bad Gate 3"

Nick Thurston, chief character designer of "Borderlands 4", recently revealed that this upcoming shooting plunder game has gained key inspiration from the CRPG masterpiece "Bader's Gate 3".Although Gearbox's signature series is very different from the CRPG style of Larion Studio, the development team still draws on the freedom of character growth in RPGs such as "Bad Gate 3" to reshape the professional system of this work.

In a recent interview with Polygon, Thurston admitted that the team hopes to get rid of the design limitations of some characters in the previous work "one move".He particularly praised the way that Baldur Gate 3 and Exile allowed players to experiment with different genres freely: "As an ultimate outfit enthusiast, I enjoyed the process of creating the ultimate build at my own pace - but some of the characters in the previous work were too single."

This new design philosophy will significantly change the multi-person collaborative experience. In the past, players who chose the same character often ended in the same way, but in "Borderlands 4", the same secret hunter will be able to develop completely different combat styles."Imagine that all four players choose Amon, but they can play four genres - this is the ideal state in my heart." Thurston gave an example.
