In an interview with foreign media Anime News Network, "Final Fantasy 16" producer Naoki Yoshida was asked whether the next orthodox Final Fantasy game could be turn-based, and he did not seem to rule out this possibility.Instead, he seemed completely open-minded.

"With the turn-based and action-based questions, this often treats gameplay as merely a combat system. This does not take into account what kind of game experience the creator wants to deliver to the player. For example, based on the specific visual effects we want to present to the player, or the stories we want to tell the player, it will be related to how we set up the game around these cores. This includes combat systems, game design, and operational feel. (Future Battle System) is not an either-or answer, and it won't be completely turned-based, or action-based."
In the interview, Yoshida also said that he may retreat to the second line in the future and no longer participate in the production of the new "Final Fantasy" series, and does not want to set restrictions for future young producers, hoping that they can create freely.
