According to the latest insider's news, Microsoft's next-generation Xbox console may no longer support Xbox One games.

Backward compatibility has long been an important feature of Xbox, but a new generation of consoles may change this tradition.Anonymous sources revealed that Microsoft plans to terminate support for Xbox One games — especially third-party works.While some games are still available to run through the Play Anywhere program, this will become a special case rather than a general rule.

The anonymous source states:

"Obviously, any Xbox first-party game or game signed a special agreement with a 'play anywhere' can run on a new generation of Xbox consoles or Microsoft's new Asus Xbox handheld, but if the new console is essentially an enhanced version of Windows PC, then old games and most third-party works are likely to face serious compatibility issues on the future Xbox platform."

This means that players who have previously purchased Xbox One games may not be able to run these works on new devices.Sources also pointed out that the transformation to a PC architecture platform is technically difficult to maintain backward compatibility - this is considered the main reason why Microsoft abandoned the feature.
