In an exclusive interview with "Famitsu", "Mario Kart: World" producer Mitsuyu Yabuki revealed that the control system of this open world racing game actually originated from the "extreme sports daily" of the development team during lunch break.

As the first open world work in the series, Mario Kart: World breaks the boundaries of the traditional track through new action systems such as "track riding" and "wall galloping".As early as in Nintendo's official developer interview, designer Shintaro Azumaru admitted that these designs were inspired by extreme sports such as skateboarding, snowboarding and BMX.In the latest interview, Yabuki Mitsuyu revealed that these creativity directly originated from the real life of the development team - there are many extreme sports experts hidden in the team.
"Some of our members would skate or ride mountain bikes outside the office building during lunch break." Yabuki specifically mentioned that the programmer responsible for vehicle control is an avid racer and extreme sports enthusiast. He incorporated the skateboard jumping, snowboard carving and other action textures he experienced into the game control system.

The newly added "power-causing jump" mechanism and "feather props" are combined with the terrain design spread all over the walls and tracks, allowing players to perform combined stunts like playing skateboards.Yabuki said that although most of the track mechanics have been mined by players, there are still hidden elements that are not fully explored: "Especially the transition areas connecting different tracks, we buried many surprises."
