Players who were disappointed with the cancellation of "Hytale" are launching a petition trying to get the randomly generated sandbox RPGs of the program to be released publicly in some form. The petition has collected nearly 1,600 signatures. The petition mentions publisher Riot Games, developer Hypixel Studios and Hypixel founder Simon Collins-Laflam, but has not received any response from relevant parties.
"Hytale" was created by a group of successful Minecraft MOD developers and was released in late 2018.The game intends to use blocky visuals that mimic Minecraft’s iconic style, showing great potential – it puts role-playing forms on top of survival elements and promises to add creative tools to let players design custom game content, which makes players excited.
But players were in great disappointment: Earlier this week, Hypixel announced the cancellation of Hytale and gradually closed the emerging development studio.Shortly after the news was announced, a player initiated a petition on Change.org asking Hypixel or Riot Games to provide any playable version of the cancelled game to the loyal players. So far, the petition has received 1,582 signatures and the numbers are still growing, but the creators have not posted an official response through the website.
The long development cycle of Hytale ended in such a regrettable way, triggering responses from many potential players who expressed their feelings through the petition website.A player who has been following development since the game was announced said that he had gained inspiration and motivation for expecting the game to be released in the end, but the cancellation news broke them.Another online video creator, who has produced and shared Hytale content over the years, feels saddened by the demise of the game community than the game itself. However, the release of the unfinished game version seems to be contrary to the team's willingness to express in the cancellation announcement - which said that reducing the game size or adjusting the timeline would result in the product not meeting the team's vision and "will not be the game you deserve."
Even if the petition successfully gives players the opportunity to experience the unfinished version of "Hytale", the possibility of an official restart of the development cycle is extremely low.The first release window for Hytale was first postponed in late 2019 as developers realized that the path they planned was "sized".In a speech to players earlier this week, Hypixel co-founder NoxyD called the game development “extremely difficult” and pointed out that after a long development cycle, the game is still far from meeting the team’s ambitious goals.
