1047 Games, the developer of "Split Door 2", has fired "a small number of important employees."
In a statement released by LinkedIn, the studio said that although the team is still "improving" "Split Gate 2", it is currently "reallocating resources to create the best quality game for players."The statement did not specify the specific number of affected developers, but co-founders Ian Prox and Nicholas Bagamian will reportedly no longer receive salaries as the team is "entering all over the next phase of the project."
"Today, we say goodbye to a small number of key members of the 1047 Games team. We are still refining the game experience of Split Gate 2 based on community feedback and are redistributed resources to create the best game for players."
"We are saddened by our teammates' departure and are currently actively helping them find new opportunities. In addition, co-founders Ian Prox and Nicholas Bagamian have chosen not to receive their salary during the next phase of the project's development. Thanks to our partners who worked side by side with us - without you, we would not be who we are today, and we feel deeply reluctant to part with us."
"For all players who play "Split Gate 2", we will continue to work hard to bring more content you love. We are committed to creating this game for a long time."
1047 Games has been in constant turmoil recently.Last week, Prox apologized for his controversial appearance at the Summer Game Festival, saying his actions “caused a division in the community.”He came on stage with a MAGA-like "Make FPS Great Again" hat, and just a few days ago, the studio apologized for a $145-looking prop and reduced the price to $40 to refund the difference for purchasers.
