"Fangs of Asterkarn" has been released for two years, after US developer Crate Entertainment expected to be launched in 2024, but this is obviously not achieved. Now Crate has provided a progress update, saying that expansion packs are likely to be launched later this year, but the official also admits that it is not ruled out that it will be postponed to the spring of 2026 or even early summer of 2026.
Crate officially explained that "Dawn of Asterkarn" will be the game's largest expansion to date, far surpassing previous expansions "Ashes of Malmouth" and "Forgotten Gods".
The official explained: "To give everyone an intuitive concept, we currently estimate that the map area of Fangs of Asterkarn is about 3.55 square kilometers, about 1.1 times the size of "Ashes of Malmouth". The new mission hall "Kurnhold" is the de facto capital of the Kurnhold, covering 4 areas, while the "Three Gods Contract" in "The Forgotten Gods" only accounts for 1.5 areas.
In this world, the total number of main and side missions is 47 so far, and this number is expected to continue to grow as the content continues to expand. There are 54 new bosses distributed throughout Astkarn, including 8 new Avengers (Nemesis) encounters.
Mechanically, these bosses will use the most complex skill system technology ever made in Dawn of Horror, and the development team is continuing to bring the potential of this old engine to its limit. If you've been following our updates, you've learned about the first Super Boss "The Dread", but there's another one hidden somewhere waiting for you to discover...
These bosses and their minions will drop over 380 new unique items and 120 monster rare items. This does not include Awakened Epic items - this part is still in production and is expected to continue to expand after release; it does not include Sublimational Normal Equipment dropped under "Ascendant mode", which has 33 unique three-level affixes.
All of this does not include the two meat pigeon dungeons we plan to add after the release, which will further expand the world, bringing more boss battles and new unique drops.”
Developer Crate Entertainment said they plan to launch a new expansion pack "Fangs of Asterkarn" simultaneously on PC and Xbox platforms.Crate released "Dawn of Terror: Ultimate Edition" on Xbox One in December 2021, including two major expansions "Ashes of Malmouth" and "The Forgotten Gods".
