"The Witcher 1" Demo is of poor quality, CDPR has boldly promised to create the best RPG in history

The CDPR "The Witcher" series is well-known worldwide, but its road to success is not smooth. In the early stages of the development of "The Witcher 1", CDPR head Adam Badowski showed the game demo to BioWare co-founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk.

"That demo didn't work very well, and then Ray and Greg asked me a question: 'Well, what are you trying to achieve?' I replied that I want to be the biggest and best RPG team in the industry, and we want to build the best RPG game ever."

At that time, the CDPR team had only 15 people, although it was planned to expand to 35 people in the future. But no matter how hard the team works, they face embarrassing moments. After a bad demo, Badowski realized the team was still too small.Despite this, he still made bold statements and wanted to create the best RPG game in history. The response BioWare can give is just a sentence "We will contact you again."

Fortunately, that meeting obviously left a positive impression, and BioWare eventually got in touch with CDPR."They strongly support us, and the first engine we used was BioWare's Aurora engine," Badowski said.

But the CDPR team still faces a huge challenge, Badowski said: "We rewrite about 80% of the code in the Aurora engine. The Witcher 1 doesn't have a multiplayer game, so we removed this kind of functionality from the engine and the rendering system is completely remade. So I think the lesson we can learn is: no matter how bad the situation is, be convinced of your path. The lack of experience and cognition sometimes fuels your ambitions."
