Activision Blizzard employees form trade union "Overwatch" team signs over 200 people

The development team of Overwatch 2, a group of more than 200 members, recently passed a vote to form a union.The Communications Workers Association of America (CWA) announced in its announcement that the newly established Overwatch Game Makers Union is a comprehensive trade union organization that includes employees in all development fields such as design, production, engineering, art, sound effects and quality inspection.This resolution was supported by most employees.

"California continues to be at the forefront of unionization in the gaming industry. When workers unite and gather strength, we can create a brighter future together," said Jason Justice, president of the Local Chapter of the Communications Workers Association.

"The massive layoffs in the gaming industry have prompted me to explore how to build a healthier work environment. When I started to form a union, I learned that the World of Warcraft team next door had been successfully formed, which gave us great incentives."

This collective bargaining action continues the unionization campaign initiated by employees of Activision User Research Department in March this year.The Communications Workers Association confirmed that employees of Microsoft's studios supported the union representative program with an overwhelming majority.With Microsoft officially recognizing the Overwatch Game Producers union, more than 2,600 Microsoft studio employees have successfully formed a union based on a neutral agreement reached by the company and the Communications Workers Association.
