The orthodox sequel to "Soul of Tsukima Island" created by Sucker Punch Studio, "The Soul of Sheep Hoof Mountain" has recently released more development details.Game Director Nate Fox revealed the creative story behind the Hokkaido filming for the first time on PlayStation Blog - this far north land called "Xiai" is the stage for the protagonist Atsu's road to revenge. He said that he chose this place because it was incredibly beautiful and was the best place to tell the story.
The development team conducted two field visits in Hokkaido. They chose to go to Zhisou National Park for the first time, when they encountered real survival challenges in the spectacular scenery of cliffs and oceans."We must look up at the magnificent snow-covered mountains and always be alert to brown bears lurking in the bushes," Fox recalls. This experience of "beautiful scenery and crisis" will eventually be transformed into the core feeling in the game - players will experience the double impact of visual shock and survival pressure during the exploration process like field investigation.
As the inspiration for the game title, the Sheepshoe Mountain (called "female Mountain" in Ainu) was given a deeper meaning in the second field trip. The team discovered that this "Hayi Fuji" is not only a geographical indication, but also carries local cultural memories.Fox explained: "For the protagonist Ajin, this mountain is both a symbol of the lost home and a concrete manifestation of the obsession with revenge."
Finally, Fox concluded: "The magnificent natural landscape of Hokkaido has given us endless inspiration, and we strive to reproduce the essence of this island in the fictional game world. But as the American development team, we are very clear about our cognitive limitations of Japanese culture. To this end, we not only visited a large number of cultural scholars, but also visited many historical sites on the spot...more content will be announced later."
At present, the pre-order of "Sheep Hoof Mountain" has been launched and will be launched on the PS5 platform on October 2.
