Recently, Housemarque, a developer known for works such as "Return of Death" and "Death Machine", made it clear at the studio's 30th anniversary celebration that it will not enter the field of free mode or real-time service games in the short term.
Studio Director Ilari Kuittinen and creative director Gregory Louden revealed to the media: "As long as players are still buying buyout games, Housemarque will continue to focus on the development of such works. Our core philosophy is to create a unique experience at a certain stage of the player's life, which players may complete within days or weeks."
"The studio's work is equivalent to a movie or a TV series, and I think that these contents serve a specific stage of life. This experience is wonderful enough in itself, and players don't have to spend the rest of their lives in our games. It's a unique experience, you go through it and get insights from it. Maybe you will revisit it in the future, but it's not a necessity for life."
Louden said that the studio is currently fully committed to the development of the buyout single-player game "Saros", which will be launched on the PS5 platform. The studio plans to maintain its development momentum by continuously creating amazing works and ensuring continued activity in the next 30 years."We must continue to create extraordinary games, and the reputation of the studio will always depend on the quality of the latest works. Housemarque's development has not been smooth sailing, so the team is very aware of the pitfalls in the industry, and only by continuously producing high-quality games can we remain competitive."
"This is almost a responsibility, and we are very fortunate to be in our current position and should continue to break through the boundaries of the media, show potential through gameplay, narrative and technological innovation, and achieve continuous growth. The goal for the next thirty years is simple - to create more outstanding works."
