Recently, Campfire Cabal Studio, which has developed historical tactical RPGs such as "Expeditionary Force: Rome", suddenly broke the silence and announced that it is developing new projects. The studio mentioned in its official website announcement that although there has been no news since the last major update of "Expeditionary Force: Rome" was released in November 2024, they now say the studio has never been closed.
Although there have been personnel cuts after the release of the previous game, the project research and development work that has been carried out since 2022 has never been interrupted. The official also announced that this new work has entered the full production stage in March 2025.
"Players who are paying attention to industry trends know that the gaming industry has experienced difficult times in recent years. Investments have dried up, studios have collapsed, a large number of developers have been unemployed, and projects have been cancelled one after another. We sincerely thank the members within the group who have worked hard to maintain the studio's operations in the midst of turmoil, so that we can resurrect our new life now."
The studio further confirmed that the new project still belongs to the "Expeditionary Force" series, which means that tactical RPG elements will continue to be deeply integrated into character growth, narrative structure and turn-based combat systems based on real history.
However, the official said that no more details will be disclosed, and only revealed that the new work will be set in a new historical period and geographical area different from the previous work in the series: "Although the content of the new work cannot be detailed yet, it can be confirmed that it will continue the tradition of the series - select a new period in the long river of human history and explore new areas on the world map. Just like every "Expeditionary Force" work, this work will reach a new high."
