Today (March 28) Ubisoft announced that it will establish a subsidiary to include three popular game IPs, "Assassin's Creed", "Far Cry" and "Rainbow Six".The new company is valued at 4 billion euros, Tencent holds a 25% stake and invests 1.16 billion euros.
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said that after examining Ubisoft's different future strategies, he chose to sign a special agreement with Tencent.This marks a new milestone in Ubisoft, and Tencent's investment of 1.16 billion euros will allow Ubisoft to regain control of the future.
The announcement shows that after the transaction is completed, the new subsidiary will still be exclusively controlled by Ubisoft and included in its consolidated financial statements, and the transaction is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
The new subsidiary will have a dedicated leadership team, supervised by the board of directors, focusing on enhancing creative ideas and streamlining operational processes.Subsidiaries have the right to make significant decisions in development, marketing and distribution, etc. to ensure that these brands can continue to grow, attract new players, and provide groundbreaking experiences for years to come.
