New options outside of Windows reveal that SteamOS will complete PC adaptation

There are reports that Valve is completing SteamOS adaptation work for PCs, which will bring players a game-centric operating system while retaining the powerful upgradeability of PCs.

The news also said that Valve has been preparing for the official launch of SteamOS.

SteamOS is based on Linux and is loved by players for its simple user interface and no bundling software. Compared with Windows systems, SteamOS not only takes up less resources, but also provides a smoother gaming experience.

Windows之外的新选择 曝SteamOS将完成PC适配

As early as a few years ago, Valve joined forces with aliens and other manufacturers to launch the "Steam Machine PC", but because SteamOS lacked the Proton conversion layer at that time, it could only run a few native Linux games, so the market response was mediocre.

In recent years, Valve has greatly improved the game compatibility of SteamOS through Proton technology, so that many games that originally only support Windows can run on SteamOS, and the performance and compatibility are almost no different from Windows.

Currently, Valve has provided a "Assemble your own Steam Host" page, which lists the minimum configuration and installation methods required to install SteamOS, but it is still in the beta stage and there may be some instability.
