Xbox head Phil Spencer made it clear in two interviews recently that Microsoft is gradually abandoning its exclusive game development strategy, and its works will be available to its competitors' console platforms in the future.
When asked "Why players still want to buy Xbox consoles", Spencer emphasized: "We hope users choose Xbox because of their device and service quality, rather than exclusive games." He revealed that Microsoft plans to strongly support Nintendo Switch 2, and well-known newseXtas1s says Doom: Dark Ages will be available on the platform.
Regarding the cross-platform possibility of "Starry Sky", Spencer bluntly stated: "It doesn't make sense for us to limit games to a single platform, and this path won't work." This remark suggests that Microsoft may completely terminate the PC/Xbox exclusive mode.
Moon Studios founder Thomas Mahler appreciates the strategy. He revealed that the team had refused Microsoft's cooperation to develop "Malicious Intentions" because the exclusive agreement would restrict its login to PS5.Mahler believes that the exclusive mode is outdated: "If the movie can only be played on a specific DVD player, it is obviously absurd. The number of console players has been stagnated from 100 million to 150 million for a long time, and industry growth must break the hardware barriers."
He predicted that Sony will eventually follow Microsoft and Nintendo will stick to its exclusive strategy.
