According to US media reports, Disney has deleted the words "diversity" and "DEI" from its annual business report for the first time in five years. This is the first time in 2019.

In the 2025 Form 10-K filed after the company's recent fourth-quarter earnings call, the words "diversity," "inclusion," "DEI" or "diversity, equity and inclusion" did not appear once.Although the word "fair" appears about 130 times, it is only used in a financial context.

In contrast, the company's 2024 SEC filings include a section dedicated to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI).
"Our DEI goal is to build and sustain teams that reflect the lived experiences of our audiences while employing and supporting a diverse range of voices across our creative and production teams," the 2024 report reads.
Initiatives under the DEI section include projects aimed at engaging "creative executives from underrepresented backgrounds" and "more than 100 employee-led groups that represent and support the diverse groups that make up our global workforce."
Disney isn't the only company to stop using words like "diversity."
Mita Mallick, a workplace strategy expert and author of "Reinventing Inclusion," previously told Business Insider that there is a trend for companies to use words like "belonging" and "culture" instead of "diversity, equity, and inclusion" (DEI) because some people believe that the term "DEI" has more political overtones.
This incident has also attracted the attention of gamers on foreign social media. The promoter Grummz believes that this incident is very representative.
"It happens all the time. At first it goes underground, then gradually disappears from the culture and eventually disappears from schools. The first signs may be superficial, but in the long run the impact is huge. Square Enix, for example, fired all of its woke-minded managers. The change is real."
