Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said that game consoles will not die, but games are moving to PCs and the game industry is moving from a closed system to a more open system.

In an interview with CNBC on Monday, Strauss Zelnick said: "I think the gaming industry is moving towards the PC, and the business model is moving from closed to open. But if you define the game console as the game content, rather than the system itself, then the kind of game that can be played on a big screen for hours and hours, and the experience is extremely rich - that concept will never go away."
Zelnick said that currently console and mobile games have roughly equal shares of the market, but mobile games are growing faster than console games.

While Sony and Nintendo have been focusing on traditional game consoles with great success, rivals such as Microsoft are transitioning to a more PC-based gaming model for next-generation Xbox hardware.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella recently said in an interview with TBPN: "It's actually quite interesting that people regard game consoles and PCs as two different things. We build game consoles to build more powerful PCs for better gaming. I hope this traditional concept can be re-examined."
Valve attracted a lot of attention last week when it unveiled its new Steam Machine, a console-PC hybrid device that can run PC games on a TV or as a regular gaming computer.
Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer congratulated Valve in a post on the official Xbox account, writing: "Expanding access across PC, consoles and handheld devices embodies a future based on choice and the core values that have guided the Xbox vision from the beginning."

This view of Strauss Zelnick is supported by data from market analysis companies Newzoo and Circana. The two market research companies tracked that the growth rate of the game console market will slow down after 2021, while the desktop and notebook computer markets continue to flourish.
Microsoft has also begun integrating platforms through its Xbox program.Similar to the Asus ROG Xbox Ally handheld console, its future game consoles may use the Windows operating system. In addition, Valve recently released Steam Machine, which aims to make it easier for players to play PC games on their TVs.Finally, regarding PlayStation, there are rumors that cross-platform purchasing functionality will be launched between PS5 and PC.
Although, the PC version of "GTA6" has not yet been announced, let alone the release date:
