As a gift to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the "Vermintide" series, "Warhammer: Vermintide 2" will launch a new free map - "Return to the River Lai" this Thursday (November 20).This map is a reimagining and comprehensive upgrade of the "Laihe" level in the original "Vermintide".
Trailer:
Rickard, the lead level designer at developer Fatshark, revealed that when the team was screening the remade levels, they found that the player community’s most requested level was “Laihe”, which was impressive because of its grand scenes and unique gameplay. However, due to the age and complex structure of the original map, the remake was once considered difficult to achieve, and Rickard finally accepted the challenge.

Veteran players will revisit their old roots in Return to Laihe, but will find a wealth of new content:
Environment revamp: Terrain layout changed, adding more side paths and areas to explore.
Diversification of enemies: Players not only have to deal with the Skaven, but also the newly added Chaos camps and enemies that attack ships.
Boat Battle Upgraded: The iconic river navigation session has been extended and more exciting.Players can now operate a fully functional cannon to sink surrounding enemy ships, while also dealing with enemies boarding and attacking.
Hidden elements: Players who are keen on exploration will find many new secrets, challenges and collectibles in corners, continuing the traditional gameplay of searching for "books" and "magic books".

This update isn't limited to new maps.Fatshark confirmed that the technical improvements developed for Return to Lai will benefit the entire game, with the most notable being that all elevators in the game will operate more smoothly.

The development team has made major changes to the final battle of the level to make it more climactic and exciting. While the developers are all fond of the upgraded ship battle sequence, lead gameplay programmer Theodor specifically noted that he really enjoyed "the final moment of holding back the enemy as they prepare to evacuate."

Fatshark also confirmed that "Return to Laihe" is just the beginning. This will not be the last remake map produced by the team. They are already planning the next adventure of "Ulboric Five".
"Return to Laihe" will be officially launched on November 20, providing a free update for all "Warhammer: Vermintide 2" players.
