Recently, Capcom's new game "Resident Evil 9: Requiem" producer Kumasawa Masato made it clear that players do not need to play "Resident Evil: Outbreak" beforehand to fully understand the plot of the new game.

Although the protagonist of the new game, Grace Ashcroft, is the daughter of Alisa Ashcroft, a character in the "Resident Evil: Outbreak" series, producer Xiong Ze emphasized that the development team has ensured that players "can fully enjoy the game experience" regardless of whether they have been exposed to the previous game.He explained that he chose Alisa because "she is an ordinary victim of the Raccoon City incident and has a clear motive for her behavior, making it easier for the plot to unfold."
Regarding character creation, Masato Kumasawa revealed that the new protagonist Grace will be designed to be more fragile and sensitive than classic characters such as Claire Redfield, aiming to bring players a new horror experience that is different from senior survivors.Talking about the 30th anniversary of the series, the producer acknowledged that the "Resident Evil: Outbreak" series has a historical status as the first online Resident Evil works, but did not disclose relevant remake plans.

"Resident Evil 9: Requiem" will be launched on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam platforms on February 27, 2026.
