Hideo Kojima recently participated in the Retreat event "THU Storytelling".With "storytelling" and "story telling" as its core, this activity aims to provide cross-border learning and experience opportunities.

Hideo Kojima said: "I like movies and novels, so I attach great importance to storytelling, but now young people like to watch short videos on platforms such as TikTok and YouTube. In this era, people still pay attention to the storytelling that I insist on, which surprises me."
"Many games now don't have stories. Whether they are fighting games, racing games or FPS games, the core is who is stronger and who is faster. Of course, from the perspective of the game itself, there is no problem with this. But it is not the case for me. For example, in racing games, I want to know what kind of life the racers live after getting off the car and going home? What is their story. But the game is interactive, and building such a story on this basis is actually a difficult part of game development. However, this is what I want to challenge."

"There is a cup of coffee here, but even this cup of coffee has a story behind it. If you think about it this way, your view of the world changes. By telling a story, you can make it sink into the depths of your memory. I think this creative approach is important."
Hideo Kojima believes that it is important to be exposed to and understand storytelling, but it is also critical to have the ability to tell stories. If such a culture disappeared, it is difficult to imagine what humanity would become.
