On the same day as the Final Fantasy IX 25th Anniversary Exhibition opened in Tokyo, Square Enix announced the release of Midnight Jazz: Final Fantasy IX - an album of jazz arrangements that will give a new definition to the music of the beloved Japanese role-playing game.
According to an announcement on the official website for the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy 9, the project is led by music director Yuma Yamaguchi, who has been involved in video games, television, movies and fashion. He has also assembled musicians from around the world and finally released a CD containing 13 tracks to "inject new vitality into the music of Final Fantasy 9."

Unfortunately, the track list has not been announced as of press time, but we know that the CD of "Midnight Jazz: Final Fantasy IX" is priced at 3,850 yen / $39.99 / £29.99. Users who pre-order through Amazon Japan (amazon.co.jp) will receive a limited edition packaging box with the illustration shown above printed on the box (the illustration is a sample and may be subject to change). The CD is scheduled to be released on February 11, 2026.
For fans who have not been able to get some of the 25th anniversary peripherals of "Final Fantasy 9", the official also provides free benefits: mobile phone and desktop wallpapers until November 28, 2025 (Friday). These wallpapers use illustrations from the picture book "Final Fantasy 9 Picture Book: Days of Departure with Vivi and Grandpa" which was announced and released earlier this year.
Throughout 2025, Square Enix will commemorate the milestone anniversary of "Final Fantasy 9" through various online and offline activities and a variety of peripheral products (including a cooperation series with Japanese eyewear brand ZOFF).Although the veteran publisher's attention to "Final Fantasy 9" is impressive, this has not quelled fans' expectations for the long-rumored "Final Fantasy 9" remake, and everyone is still eager to get relevant news.
We will continue to look forward to Square Enix making it clear whether there are any follow-up plans or projects in development for Final Fantasy 9.
