Total Chaos is a game of extreme contrasts for me.I really appreciate its combat and survival settings, but when it comes to actual close combat and gunfights with ordinary enemies, the experience falls short of expectations.There are some obvious rough spots in the game that diminish the appeal of its excellent elements.However, the game's scene construction, atmosphere and sound design have always fascinated me.The larger-scale horror sequences and their layers of foreshadowing are particularly good.It's not often that a game makes such a drastic thematic change from Turbo Overkill to Total Chaos, but I think Trigger Happy Interactive did create a pretty interesting game out of it.It may be unstable, but when "Total Chaos" really hits its stride, its impact is like a heavy hammer, slamming into our distorted sanity.

Most importantly, I was completely absorbed in Total Chaos's creative dungeon-crawling rhythms, its secrets and scares, bizarre plot developments and intense encounters, and even had fun packing my overloaded backpack.Although the game offers toggles off settings for everything from hunger to weapon durability, I still played through it in standard mode and found its system satisfyingly forgiving and manageable.Ultimately, Total Chaos hit the perfect spot for that bleak survival horror experience that I didn't even realize I'd been craving.
