The next "Mass Effect" new concept art will have a Krogan civil war

Yesterday was N7 Day, a tribute day to the series that BioWare, the developer of Mass Effect, has held every November 7 since 2012.In the game, N7 is the occupation code of the Galaxy Alliance army, where N represents special forces and 7 represents the highest proficiency, thus referring to the protagonist Shepard and his commandos.

N7 Day 2025 confirmed that BioWare is still developing the next Mass Effect game despite experiencing layoffs. In the blog post, senior executive producer Mike Gamble buried a secret message, which was eventually deciphered by fans. It was an original concept painting for the new "Mass Effect" game.

The original painting depicts the krogan and carries the subtitle "Civil War."This hints at one of the themes we're likely to find in a Mass Effect game: a major schism within the Krogan race between at least two factions.

Players who have played the previous "Mass Effect" series are certainly familiar with the Krogan. They are a large reptilian bipedal creature on the planet Tuchaka. They once survived tenaciously in the harsh environment of their home planet, but eventually their homeland was destroyed in a nuclear war.The survivors split into multiple tribes, constantly at war with each other.True, they are considered a warlike race, but some of them have no desire to continue the krogan's seemingly never-ending cycle of war. This may be the source of their differences, but of course, this is just speculation at this time.

The next Mass Effect game isn't coming out for at least three to four years, so fans may just be able to quench their thirst through some art in the near future. However, Amazon is developing a TV series, and BioWare has also confirmed that the series will tell an original story (written by Daniel Casey and directed by Doug Jung), set after the original "Mass Effect" trilogy.
