With the official release of "Dying Light: Beasts", Techland seems to be in no hurry to advance the development of the series of what they call "multiple unannounced projects". Timon Smektara, the game director of the series, revealed in a post on social media that Techland may begin to reallocate development efforts to the "Dying Light 2" project and ask players what updates and fixes they would like to receive now or in six months.After the post was published, the player community has put forward various suggestions, ranging from flashlight glitch fixes to weapon balance adjustments. It is unclear how seriously the officials attach importance to these suggestions, and it is not sure whether they have formed an established plan.However, based on the studio’s ten-year continuous free updates for the first game of Dying Light, the second game is likely to continue this support method.
Dying Light is a great example of player-driven updates.Looking back on the original release in 2015, Techland continued to support this game for ten years, and finally tapped more potential for this open-world zombie game through the "image quality enhanced version update".Techland classifies its commitment to maintaining two generations of titles as an important part of its "long-term support plan," and the team emphasizes that this commitment will "run through both before and after the release of Dying Light: Beast."
In the past ten years, the original "Dying Light" has received a large number of paid and free upgrades, updates, expansions, etc.Now that "Beast", which was originally a DLC for "Dying Light 2", has been officially released as a new game, Techland obviously intends to continue to fulfill its promise of supporting the second generation.Given that the game will only come out in 2022, if we follow past patterns, we may witness another long-running update that will last until 2032.
