Following the success of Steam Deck, Valve has increased its investment in the hardware market and today released Steam Machine, a console-like PC designed specifically for AAA games.

Although this small hardware configuration looks great, the performance is 6 times that of the Steam Deck, the configuration is equivalent to the 7500F + RX 7400 on the PC side, and it can also run some large games. But unfortunately, it doesn't run all games.
Because it runs SteamOS, a Linux-based operating system, the Steam Machine cannot run games such as Fortnite, Call of Duty, and Battlefield 6.
Today, game publishers are aggressively cracking down on cheating in multiplayer games, so most games need to run kernel-level anti-cheat programs.Such programs can only be run on Windows systems, not Linux systems.
As a result, Steam Deck has been unable to run games that require anti-cheat software to begin with.Valve's dedicated anti-cheat software isn't ideal either, so even if the publisher agrees, VAC isn't a viable alternative.
However, there are alternatives to running these games.Since Steam Machine and Deck are essentially PCs, users can also install Windows systems on them. However, switching operating systems will result in a performance drop since SteamOS is better suited for gaming.
Valve stated that Steam Deck, Steam Machine and Steam Frame all run Steam OS, Valve’s operating system optimized for gaming experience. The system is designed to deliver a "plug and play" user experience while still retaining the power and flexibility of a PC.
