The Independent Workers' Union of Great Britain (IWGB) has filed a lawsuit against Rockstar Games, accusing the company of unfairly dismissing and blacklisting employees due to their involvement in union activities.

This news comes on the heels of the announcement that Grand Theft Auto VI has been postponed to November 2026.The union believes that the dismissal constitutes persecution of trade union activities and is a collective dismissal related to trade union activities.

IWGB representatives claimed that they represented employees fired by Rockstar and believed that Rockstar's firing of these employees was retaliation for union activities and collective dismissal.Lawyers claim that despite attempts to meet with Rockstar to resolve the issue through negotiations, the company refused and continued to fire union members, which is unacceptable and illegal behavior.To this end, they have initiated formal legal proceedings on behalf of the complainant.

IWGB chairman Alex Marshall said they were convinced they were facing clear-cut obstruction of trade union activity and planned to organize a full legal defence.He also pointed out that this incident is a warning to the gaming industry and even any other company, warning them not to think that they can suppress union members with impunity.

At this time, Rockstar has not met with IWGB representatives to discuss the situation.
