The ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X handheld consoles jointly created by Xbox and Asus were released last month. The biggest feature of the handheld consoles is the Windows game system tailor-made by Xbox, also called Xbox Full Screen Experience (FSE).It has been reported before that handheld consoles such as Lenovo and MSI will also accept the Xbox full-screen experience mode, and now with the launch of ROG Xbox Ally, the work of adapting FSE to other handheld consoles has also begun.

Xbox Full Screen Experience (FSE) mode allows the handheld console to directly enter the Xbox App after booting, instead of loading the entire Windows shell.By not loading the entire Windows, Microsoft says FSE mode can allocate more system resources to the handheld console to run games and optimize performance.
Since FSE is not exclusive to ROG Xbox Ally (X), the first batch of other handheld devices have now begun to accept FSE.Windows users who have logged into the Windows 11 Insider preview program can now have FSE on your MSI handheld console.
According to the patch log posted on the Windows Blog, the latest preview version of Windows Insider has pushed FSE to MSI handheld machines, and will be pushed to other OEM manufacturers in the next few months.
As early as September, Lenovo had confirmed that its Legion Go Gen 2 handheld console would also accept FSE.Although the Legion Go Gen 2 handheld console has been launched, Lenovo spokesman Jeff Witt told foreign media The Verge that it will not take over FSE until the spring of 2026.
When reviewing ROG Xbox Ally X, foreign media VGC also strongly praised its FSE mode, which can not only launch Xbox PC games, but also switch to other PC stores without completely booting the Windows system.
"The ability to easily switch between Xbox PC, Steam, Epic, GOG, Ubisoft and Battle.net stores and libraries with just a few button presses is so useful that it makes us wonder if this is the beginning of the next generation of Xbox consoles."
