Nintendo recently announced its financial report for the first half of the fiscal year ending September 30, 2025.Data shows that the global cumulative sales of the next-generation console Nintendo Switch2 have reached 10.36 million units, showing a strong market start.At the same time, the total global sales of the original Nintendo Switch climbed to 154.01 million units, continuing to consolidate its position as one of the best-selling game consoles in history.
The financial report further revealed the rapid growth momentum of the new console.In the second fiscal quarter from July to September, Switch2 sold 4.54 million units of hardware and 11.95 million copies of software in a single quarter.Based on this better-than-expected performance, Nintendo has significantly raised its full-year forecasts for this fiscal year: it has raised its hardware sales forecast for Switch 2 from 15 million units to 19 million units, and its software sales forecast from 45 million units to 48 million units.
In comparison, the original Switch, which is at the end of its life cycle, sold 910,000 units of hardware this fiscal quarter, and its full-year hardware sales forecast was slightly adjusted from 4.5 million units to 4 million units.However, its software sales are still astonishing, with 37.16 million copies sold in a single quarter. The full-year forecast has been significantly raised from 1.05 billion copies to 1.25 billion copies, showing its huge user base and long-lasting game purchasing power.
