Game developer Emptyvessel has released an extended version of the cyberpunk first-person shooter "Defect" and the latest screenshots."Defect" is set in a world ruled by a dictatorial AI. It includes single-player games, PvP and cooperative modes. It will be released in 2026 and will be launched on PC (Steam, Epic, GOG) and other platforms.

The five-minute extended live-action promo of "Defect" was introduced by studio founder Emanuel Palalic. It shows a "system" heavily armed police team breaking into a huge and dingy apartment building in an attempt to terminate a renegade artificial intelligence.But they are soon greeted by a ruthless gang entrenched in the building, and the environment is torn apart as they get caught in an explosive firefight.A quick-thinking police officer successfully hijacks the consciousness of a hapless gang member and uses it to transfer the consciousness of his fallen teammate into the gang member, making him one of his own before the end of the round.After that, the police team continued deep into the building, trying to restart the entire building, and finally ushered in the final showdown on the underground dance floor illuminated by neon lights and lasers.
"DEFECT" was originally announced in 2024.
