At a recent Nintendo investor Q&A session, legendary game designer Shigeru Miyamoto was asked whether there would be a new game on the Switch 2 platform that would outsell the "Mario Kart" series. He said that although the company upholds the belief of "infinite possibilities", he personally has reservations about whether it can create a work that surpasses this ace IP.

The "Mario Kart" series is undoubtedly Nintendo's best-selling game brand.Data shows that the sales volume of "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Edition" on the Switch platform has approached 70 million copies, while the new game "Mario Kart World" has achieved an astonishing 9.5 million copies in the initial release of Switch 2, accounting for about 95% of the installed base.This sales performance makes it Nintendo's most successful game series ever.

In response to questions from investors, Shigeru Miyamoto responded: "Nintendo has always worked with the belief of 'no boundaries'. For example, when we tried to make "Super Mario Bros. Movie", we would compare it with the box office results of other movies. Even if we reach the top of the list, I believe there will always be better goals waiting to be achieved."

However, he changed the subject: "If a certain Nintendo IP or system can be widely recognized by consumers as 'never seen before,' we may be able to break through the boundaries of the entertainment industry. But even if this happens, "Mario Kart" will probably continue to sell well in that field, so it may never be surpassed."

Although the life cycle of Switch 2 has just begun, considering that "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Edition" continues to sell well to this day, the new game "Mario Kart World" is likely to continue to dominate the sales list of the platform.
