The store page is now officially wider
A series of updates coming out of beta, plus some visual updates
In today's Steam update, you can see that several store pages throughout Steam have been made wider to better utilize larger monitors and better organize some of the information on the screen.
You can see many of these changes when previewing your store page or if you've opted into the Steam client beta.
In today's update, these changes have officially come out of beta and are visible to all the public, with most pages now increasing from 940 to 1200 pixels in width.
Some upgrades to the game store page
The biggest changes are on the game store page, where we also recently updated the video player
Completely revamped promotional video/screenshot carousel area
The trailer and screenshot carousel area now supports three different modes (default mode, cinema mode, full screen mode), all three modes have the same functionality. All modes respect your preferences, including whether to automatically play promos and whether audio is on or off by default.
Higher resolution images - Since the page has been made wider, we can now show more of the game details presented in screenshots and trailers.
New mode brings a larger view - 2 buttons Cinema Mode and Full Screen Mode can be seen in the lower right corner of the screenshot.
New Cinema Mode - A pop-up view covers most of the browser or Steam client window, displaying screenshots and trailers one by one.
New full-screen mode - Screenshots and trailers will also be displayed one-by-one, but in full screen.

Better game description
We've also expanded the tools and options available to game developers when describing their games and demonstrating their capabilities. On many updated store pages, the images in the "About the Game" section will be larger, higher quality, and in a more interesting format. If you are interested in learning about improvements to game developer tools,
More optimized background images
You may also notice a subtle update to the background of the game store page, allowing more of the colors and textures of the game's artwork to show off, making the store page more game-specific.
The background image on the page comes from an image uploaded in the Image Assets tab.If a store page background image is not provided, a random screenshot of the store page will be uploaded.
Minor updates throughout the Steam Store
In the process, we've also increased the width of many pages throughout the Steam store. Some examples are as follows:
The search results page is wider and the height of each row has been slightly increased to provide more space for the game's artwork to increase in size.
The background of the bundle detail page is now more colorful and the artwork in the content list is larger.
The width of the pages recommended for you by the interactive recommendation model and popular among friends has also been increased.
The page width of store centers such as individual tabs (e.g. Supernatural) has always been larger than the width of game pages. Now, let's update these pages to be the same width as well.
The Steam Charts and News Center used to be slightly different in size and even had different color combinations. We've also unified this to make it more consistent with the colors on the Steam platform.
You can visit the site map to explore all the pages that make up the Steam store.
FAQ
Q: Why is the width 1200 pixels?
A: We know that many players are using 4k monitors, which have more than enough available pixels (we know this from the Steam Hardware Survey); and our research shows that most players don't run the Steam client or web browser in full screen. We also experimented with different ratios and found that 1200 pixels wide can achieve a better balance, allowing more content to be displayed on the screen without making the page too crowded and difficult to browse.
Q: What about the homepage? The homepage doesn’t look wider.
A: We will be making similar changes to the homepage in the near future, but we are not yet fully ready.Stay tuned.
Q: What happens if my browser or client window is less than 1200 pixels wide?
A: The Steam store page is designed to scale down appropriately to accommodate smaller monitors, browsers, and Steam client windows. It also resizes to fit tablets, Steam Deck, and other mobile devices. We even tested it on a tiny, old iPod that someone didn't know had left behind (most of the functionality worked, but the display was very small).
